Saujana Golf & Country Club

Saujana Golf & Country Club sits within the Saujana Resort in Seksyen U2, Shah Alam, just minutes from Subang Airport and the Federal Highway. Its two championship courses, the Palm and the Bunga Raya, were designed by Ron Fream and Chris Pitman and opened in 1986, and together they give the Klang Valley 36 holes of serious resort golf.

The Palm Course, laid out with Mark Miller's input, is one of the most feared and respected courses in Malaysia. From the black tees this par-72 layout stretches to about 6,992 yards, with a course rating of 75.1 and a very high slope of 142, one of the toughest ratings in the country. Tight, undulating fairways, forced carries, water and deep bunkers mean every shot needs a plan. Bermuda fairways and Tifdwarf greens are kept in championship condition.

The Bunga Raya, named after the hibiscus, Malaysia's national flower, was renovated in 2010 by Ted and Geoff Parslow with Mark Miller. It is the longer course at about 7,071 yards from the black tees, with undulating fairways, Bermuda 419 turf and fast Mini Verde greens running at around 10 on the Stimpmeter. Golfers who have played it say it is not difficult if you hit the right spots, and club selection is the key to scoring.

Facilities include a driving range, pitching and chipping area and putting green, plus a sauna, billiards, tennis, table tennis and squash. Golf carts, pull carts, caddies and club rental are available, and walking is allowed, with caddies recommended for walkers. Hotels on site make it easy to stay and play.

Playing both courses makes a great golf weekend. With CoGolfers, you can host golf games at Saujana and invite members of the CoGolfers community, or join golf games other golfers have set up. Find golf partners, meet golfers in Shah Alam and Kuala Lumpur, connect with golfers near you and take on one of Malaysia's toughest tests with new golf buddies.
