Saadiyat Beach Golf Club

When Saadiyat Beach Golf Club opened in 2010, it was billed as the Persian Gulf's first ocean course. It still offers some of the most scenic golf in the UAE. Gary Player designed it on Saadiyat Island, about 10 km north-east of central Abu Dhabi, and it's ranked among the top ten golf courses in both the Middle East and the UAE.

The 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course spreads over more than 300 acres. From the championship tees it stretches to about 7,806 yards, though most golfers play around 6,733 yards, and five tee options suit every level. Player built in three saltwater lakes, expansive sand dunes and more than 60 bunkers. Six holes have panoramic views across the Gulf, and five-star beachfront hotels sit alongside the layout. The course also follows strict environmental guidelines to protect the island's coastline, making it one of the region's more eco-conscious golf venues.

Facilities include a golf academy, driving range, restaurants and equipment rental. Each year the club hosts the Gary Player Saadiyat Beach Classic, a charity event that attracts accomplished professionals.

Saadiyat Island is also home to the Louvre Abu Dhabi and some of the city's finest beaches, so a round here fits naturally into a luxury stay.

Beach views and championship golf make for a memorable group day.
