About Sabah Golf & Country Club
Sabah Golf & Country Club, known locally as SGCC, is one of the most established private clubs in Kota Kinabalu. The 18-hole, par-72 course at Bukit Padang was originally designed by Robert Muir Graves and opened in 1976, and it was later renovated by Nelson & Haworth in 2004.
From the black tees the course stretches to roughly 6,335 metres (about 6,940 yards) and carries a rating of 73.3 with a slope of 135, which makes it a genuine test for low handicappers. The layout follows undulating terrain with lakes, streams, hillsides and tropical foliage, and distant mountain views appear on several holes. Four sets of tees, from black to red, allow players of different abilities to find a suitable length.
Practice facilities include a driving range and putting green, and golf carts, pull carts and caddies are available. Off the course, the club offers a clubhouse with bar and restaurant, conference and banquet rooms, and recreational amenities such as swimming, tennis, squash and billiards. The club lies roughly 8.5 km from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, so it is easily reached from the city centre.
As a members' club with a strong local following, SGCC is a natural place to grow your golf circle.
