About Kinabalu Golf Club
Kinabalu Golf Club at Tanjung Aru is one of the older golf venues in Kota Kinabalu, opening in 1954 with a layout credited to Robert Muir Graves. It is an unusual course: rather than a standard nine or eighteen, it has 11 holes playing to a par of 35.
The routing uses six par 4s, four par 3s and one par 5 on around 40 acres of mostly flat ground near Tanjung Aru beach. The course measures about 3,532 metres in total, with corridor-style fairways and fast, undulating greens that are protected by bunkers and subtle water hazards. It is a parkland-style course where accuracy matters more than length.
The club is private, and golf carts, caddies and rental clubs are available, along with a putting green, a teaching professional and a golfers' lounge with pro shop. The clubhouse includes a restaurant and lounge, and members also have access to swimming, fitness, tennis, squash and billiards. Proper golf attire is required, and published access terms for weekday play have included handicap and insurance requirements, so visitors should check with the club before planning a round.
