About Austin Hills Golf Resort
Austin Hills Golf Resort is a 27-hole golf venue in Taman Mount Austin, one of the busy residential and commercial townships on the north-eastern side of Johor Bahru. Rather than a single 18-hole layout, the resort is built around three separate nines, the Austin, Hills and Resort courses, which are paired up to make an 18-hole round of par 71 or 72 depending on the combination.
The Austin and Hills nines both opened in 1995 and play to par 36 each. The Austin nine is the longest of the three at around 3,347 yards from the back tees, while the Hills nine, credited to architect Nigel B. Douglas, measures about 2,873 metres from the blue markers. The Resort nine was added in 2006 and plays to par 35 over roughly 2,883 metres. Fairways are Bermuda Tifway and greens are Bermuda Tifdwarf, and golf is played year-round in Johor's tropical climate.
Carts are included in the green fee and caddies are available, and the practice set-up includes a driving range, putting green and a teaching professional. Off the course, the clubhouse has locker rooms, a sauna and jacuzzi, and the resort offers swimming, a fitness centre, tennis, table tennis, billiards and bowling, which makes it a practical base for golfers who want a full day out rather than just a round.
Because three nines give plenty of flexibility for tee times and group sizes, Austin Hills works well for regular social golf in Johor Bahru. On CoGolfers you can host golf games at Austin Hills and invite players from the CoGolfers community, or join golf games already set up by others. It's an easy way to find golf partners, meet golfers in Johor Bahru and grow a steady circle of golf buddies close to home.
