About Willingdon Sports Club
Willingdon Sports Club (WSC), founded in 1917 by Lord Willingdon, then Governor of Bombay, as India's first club with no colour bar between Indians and Europeans, is one of Mumbai's most prestigious private clubs. Its 18-hole, par-65 golf course, laid out opposite the Mahalaxmi Race Course near Haji Ali, features tight, criss-crossing fairways, mature tree cover, and fast greens that make for a genuinely testing round despite its compact length. Alongside golf, WSC offers tennis, squash, badminton, a pool, and health club — though membership has stayed closed since 1985, mostly passing down through existing families.
