About Tawau Golf Club - Hot Spring Course
The Hot Spring Course is the 18-hole home of Tawau Golf Club, located at KM10 on Jalan Sin Onn Tiku outside Tawau. The club was registered in 1967, making it one of the earliest post-independence golf clubs in Sabah. The first nine holes at Hot Spring opened in May 1999 and the full 18 were completed in July 2001.
An unusual feature of the course is that it was designed and funded by the club's own members, at a cost of about RM1.8 million, without a professional architect. The result is a par-72 layout measuring 6,161 metres from the black tees, with a rating of 73.3 and a slope of 141, which places it among the most demanding courses in the state. Blue and red tees give shorter options.
Golf carts, pull carts, caddies and rental clubs are available, and the practice facilities include a driving range, putting green, golf simulator and indoor practice area. The clubhouse, which opened in October 2007, has a bar and restaurant, and the club also offers swimming, billiards and fitness facilities. Proper golf attire is required.
