About Sai Golf Club
Sai Golf Club, between Bangkok and Ayutthaya about 70 minutes from the city centre, brings a Scottish links feel to central Thailand. Designed by Bob Moore of JMP Golf Design, the private 18-hole, par-72 golf course was transformed from flat rice paddies into a links-style layout with real elevation changes.
From the black tees it stretches to about 7,530 yards, with a course rating of 75.5 and slope of 137, a serious test by any standard. High-lipped bunkers, raised greens with steep grass catchment areas and large, undulating putting surfaces with pronounced humps make the short game just as demanding as the long game. Between holes, wood chips and long wispy grass complete the links look.
The closing holes on each nine are highlights, with water hazards and bowl-shaped greens that create an amphitheatre effect, ideal for watching friends finish their rounds.
The ultra-modern clubhouse draws on Thai architectural traditions and offers five-star-level amenities, with restaurants and locker rooms. Well-trained caddies, golf carts, club rentals and a putting green complete the experience, and walking is permitted.
Sai is a newer private club, so check access and booking arrangements before planning a round.
