About Damai Laut Golf & Country Club
On the coast near Lumut, facing the Straits of Malacca, Damai Laut Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 resort course that opened in 1997. It was designed by Ron Fream and David Dale, and it is regularly described by Perak golfers as one of the most exciting courses in the state.
The layout has a links-style character, with the sea as a backdrop on many holes and coastal breezes that change how the course plays from one day to the next. It is also long: from the back tees Damai Laut stretches to about 7,219 yards (6,600 metres), carrying a course rating of 74.9 and a slope of 130. Stronger players will want to take on the tips, while the forward tees keep the round manageable for mid and high handicappers.
Practice facilities include a 12-bay driving range, a practice bunker and a putting green, and teaching professionals are available. Carts and rental clubs can be arranged, and the country club side of the resort adds a clubhouse, locker rooms, spa and sauna, a fitness centre, tennis and basketball courts and billiards. A proper golf dress code applies and major credit cards are accepted.
Lumut is also the jumping-off point for Pangkor Island, so many golfers combine a round here with a short coastal break. If you are planning a weekend trip, use CoGolfers to host golf games at Damai Laut or join golf games already posted by the CoGolfers community. You can meet golfers heading to Lumut, find golf partners for a full fourball, and connect with golfers near you to build a social golf group for future coastal rounds.
