Kelab Golf Sarawak

Kelab Golf Sarawak in Petra Jaya, Kuching, is the only 36-hole golf facility in Sarawak and the hub of golf in the state capital. Established in the mid-1980s, it sits about 10 km from the city centre, roughly a 15-minute drive, and about 50 minutes from the airport. The club hosted the golf competition of the 2024 SUKMA games.

The Matang/Santubong Course is the older of its two par-72 layouts, named after the Matang and Santubong mountain ranges visible in the distance. It is also the longer, at 6,394 metres from the black tees, with four tee options down to about 5,267 metres. It is known for faster greens and undulating Paspalum fairways, with water hazards placed strategically around the flat terrain, and its greens are Bermuda Tifdwarf.

The Siol/Demak Course, on the northern side of the property, originally opened around 1989 and was redesigned by Nigel Douglas in 2000, when every hole was re-routed and all greens, tees and turf were rebuilt. At about 6,224 metres it plays tighter than its sister, with narrower fairways and plenty of water and sand. Signature holes include the par-3 3rd, with water guarding a narrow green; the par-4 4th, a dogleg right of around 435 yards; the par-4 12th, whose fairway is only about 20 yards wide at the landing area; and the short par-3 17th, with a lake on the left and a double-tiered green.

Golf carts, pull carts and caddies are available, along with a lighted driving range, putting green and golf school. The distinctive pyramid-shaped clubhouse has dining outlets serving Chinese, Western, Japanese and Thai cuisine, and members can also enjoy swimming, tennis, badminton, squash and billiards.
