About Damai Golf & Country Club
Damai Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course on the Santubong peninsula north of Kuching, around 20 minutes from the city centre. Designed by Arnold Palmer, with Ed Seay also credited, it opened in 1996 and is regarded as one of the most established courses in Sarawak.
The two nines have very different characters. The front nine climbs through rainforest in the foothills of Mount Santubong, with natural elevation changes, while the back nine runs along the coast of the South China Sea past beaches, rocky outcrops and mangroves. The course measures about 6,950 yards (6,318 metres from the blue tees), and its greens are generally small, favouring accurate approaches. The signature par-3 17th plays slightly downhill to a green surrounded on three sides by the sea.
Golf carts, pull carts, caddies and rental clubs are available, and there is a grass driving range, chipping area and putting green with a teaching professional. The clubhouse has a golfers' café, restaurant, pro shop and locker rooms, and the club also offers swimming, tennis, squash and billiards. Soft spikes are required and there is a dress code.
