Forest City Golf Resort

Forest City Golf Resort in Gelang Patah is part of the Forest City development in south-western Johor, on low-lying estuary land near the Straits of Johor and close to the Second Link to Singapore. It is about 25 minutes from Johor Bahru's city centre and under an hour from Singapore, and its two par-72 championship courses make it one of the region's newer golf destinations.

The Legacy Course, by Nicklaus Design, opened in 2018. It was built on a base of dredged ocean sand, and hundreds of palm trees frame the holes. Signature waste areas run through the layout, giving golfers the chance to play recovery shots instead of facing out-of-bounds, and the 9th and 18th greens share a hill, with river views from most holes. From the black tees it measures about 7,386 yards, with blue, white and red tees at roughly 6,777, 6,158 and 5,350 yards.

The Classic Course followed in 2019. Built in a desert style, it stretches to around 7,138 yards from the gold tees, with a course rating of 74.9 and a slope of 131, a serious test for low handicappers, while blue, white and red tees bring it back to a comfortable length. Both courses use salt-tolerant Paspalum Platinum, suited to the coastal setting.

Practice facilities include a 21-bay driving range, practice bunker, pitching, chipping and putting areas and a golf academy with teaching professionals. Carts are included in the green fee on the Legacy, caddies and rental clubs are available and fivesomes are permitted. The resort adds a hotel, restaurants, conference facilities, a swimming pool and tennis courts.

With two championship courses in one place, Forest City suits golf days and group outings. On CoGolfers you can host golf games here, join golf games organised by other members and find golf partners who want to take on a Nicklaus Design layout. Meet golfers from both sides of the Causeway and connect with golfers near you in Gelang Patah and Iskandar Puteri.
