Ako International Country Club

Ako International Country Club has played in the hills above Ako city since 1975, stretching to 6,585 yards and giving the historic city a second distinct golf option alongside the older Ako Country Club nearby. Despite the international name, the club serves primarily local and regional golfers drawn by its inland, hillier setting compared to the coastal character of much of Ako. The mid-1970s construction date places the course within Japan's second major wave of golf development, when many clubs pushed further into hill country as flatter coastal land grew scarce. Ako's identity as the historic seat of the 47 Ronin legend gives visitors a natural reason to combine a golf trip with local sightseeing, and the club's distance from the city center offers a quieter, more rural round than courses closer to the harbor. Having operated for roughly half a century, the layout has settled into a mature routing through the surrounding hillside terrain. Golfers organizing a visit through CoGolfers can treat Ako International Country Club as a genuine alternative to the city's older club, and the community is a good place to find others planning a trip to this far western corner of Hyogo.
