Ooty Golf Course Ootacamund Gymkhana Club

Ooty Golf Course, established in 1891 by Colonel Fane Sewell and redesigned by Colonel Ross Thompson, is one of India's oldest and most storied courses, set at 7,200 feet on the rolling Wenlock Downs near the Nilgiri Blue Mountains. This par-72, 18-hole layout across roughly 193 acres blends tree-lined fairways, gorse-covered downland, and elevation changes that reward long hitters thanks to the thin mountain air. It hosted the first-ever All India Amateur Championship in 1906 and the inaugural Indian Open in 1964, adding to its legacy as a genuinely historic golfing destination surrounded by eucalyptus anforest.
