About Mae Moh Golf Course
Few golf courses anywhere have a setting quite like Mae Moh Golf Course. Perched on a mountain overlooking a large lignite mine, about 30 km south of Lampang and around 125 km from Chiang Mai, it's run and managed by EGAT, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.
The 18-hole, par-72 layout stretches to about 6,850 yards from the blue tees. The front nine follows the mountain ridge, with challenging uphill and downhill holes and several blind shots that reward local knowledge, so a good caddie is worth having on your first visit. The back nine was completed later and offers a different rhythm to the round.
The views are a highlight, stretching across the mine and the surrounding hills, and giving the course a character unlike any other golf course in northern Thailand.
Facilities include a restaurant serving Thai and European food, a pro shop, rental clubs and a practice putting green.
For golfers exploring Lampang or driving between Chiang Mai and the lower north, Mae Moh is a unique stop that's well worth the detour.
