About Lahad Datu Golf & Country Club
Lahad Datu Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course on Sabah's east coast, around seven hours' drive from Kota Kinabalu. Opened in 1994 with design work by Lamung and Associates, it is noted as the first all-Bermuda golf course in Sabah.
The layout is set within mature oil palm plantation land, and the design follows the natural topography while making use of numerous ponds and streams. Hole19 lists the course at about 6,125 yards, while Golfasian describes an extended length of around 6,325 metres. The signature hole is the par-3 17th, known as Green Island, where the tee shot must find a narrow plateau with a stream below and around the green.
Facilities are straightforward. There is a restaurant, and golf carts and equipment such as clubs, shoes and umbrellas can be rented. The course is open daily with a maximum of four players per group. There is no driving range on site, so plan to warm up on the putting area before teeing off.
