Meru Valley Golf & Country Club

Meru Valley Golf & Country Club is a 27-hole resort course on the northern edge of Ipoh, about ten minutes from the city centre. Its three nines, Valley, Waterfall and River, each play to par 36, so any 18-hole combination is a par-72 championship round.

The nines opened in stages between 1992 and 1994. From the championship tees they measure roughly 3,300 yards (Valley), 3,530 yards (Waterfall) and 3,325 yards (River), so the longest pairing runs beyond 6,800 yards. Each nine has its own character, and the club highlights three signature holes across the property. Four tee options, from championship to forward tees, let golfers of all standards find the right level of challenge. The club began as Kelab Golf Perak Darul Ridzuan and took on the Meru Valley name in 1999.

Meru Valley bills itself as the only five-star golf course in Perak and has won a Best Golf Development Asia Pacific award. Practice facilities are excellent, with a two-tier covered driving range, bunker practice, chipping and pitching areas and a putting green. There is also a Junior Golf Academy for children from age five. Caddies, carts and rental clubs are available, and the country club offers swimming, fitness, tennis, basketball and billiards.

With three nines and a city-side location, Meru Valley is one of the easiest places in Ipoh to organise group golf.
