Emirates Golf Club – Faldo Course

If you want to play championship golf in Dubai after the sun goes down, the Faldo Course at Emirates Golf Club is the place to do it. This 18-hole, par-72 layout is fully floodlit, so you can tee off in the cool of the evening and play under the lights, a rare experience on a full-length championship golf course.

The course opened in 1996 as "The Wadi", the Arabic word for valley, and was reworked by six-time Major champion Sir Nick Faldo in 2005. The redesign carries his trademark touches: carefully placed tees and bunkers, and 14 lakes that guard fairways and greens throughout the round. The greens are heavily contoured and kept fast, so the short game gets tested as much as your driving. From the back tees the course plays well over 7,000 yards, with forward tees for golfers of every level.

The Faldo sits right next to the famous Majlis Course, the long-time home of the Dubai Desert Classic, in Al Thanyah Third, New Dubai. That puts it about 30 minutes from Dubai International Airport, in the middle of the city. Both tourists and UAE residents play it regularly for its challenge and immaculate condition.

Golfers share all of Emirates Golf Club's facilities. There's the Peter Cowen Academy and a Trackman driving range, a 9-hole Par 3 Academy course, and six restaurants and cafés, including carine and Jones the Grocer. A spa, fitness centre, padel and tennis round out the club. Golf carts and umbrellas are available, and sets of clubs and shoes can be rented.

Night golf is made for groups.
