Sungai Petani Golf Club

Sungai Petani Golf Club, known locally as Kelab Sungai Petani, dates back to 1922 and is described by Deemples as the oldest golf club in Kedah. It is a 9-hole, par-35 course on Jalan Sungai Layar, close to the centre of Sungai Petani, and it continues to take tee-time bookings for both 9- and 18-hole rounds.

The nine is short at 3,068 yards from its single set of white tees, with cow-grass greens, which makes it a relaxed, walkable course for a quick game or a gentle 18 played twice around. Its compact size and in-town location make it popular with local golfers and newer players who want affordable golf without a long drive.

The club offers more than golf. There is a driving range for practice, while the clubhouse has a bar and restaurant along with conference and banquet facilities. Members and guests can also use a swimming pool, tennis courts, billiards and a fitness centre. Appropriate golf attire is expected on the course. For a club with more than a century of history, the green fees remain modest, which helps explain why it stays busy with local players.
