About Resorts World Awana Golf Course
Set roughly 3,100 feet above sea level on the slopes of Genting Highlands, Resorts World Awana Golf Course is an 18-hole mountain layout that first opened in 1986 to a design by Ronald Fream. For decades it was known as Awana Genting Highlands Golf & Country Resort, and its cool highland air has long made it a favourite escape from the heat of the lowlands.
In June 2026 the course reopened after the most extensive redevelopment since it was built. Parslow & Winter Golf Design reworked the layout, and the upgrade touched all 18 holes: greens, fairways, bunkers and teeing grounds were redesigned, greens were enlarged, one hole was relocated, and new Black and Gold tees were added. Drainage and irrigation were upgraded and the course was turfed with Zoysia matrella for more consistent, year-round playing conditions. Around two-thirds of the site remains preserved as natural forest, so rainforest views frame much of the round. Before the redesign the course was recorded as a par-71 of about 6,650 yards from the back tees.
Practice and hospitality are handled on site, with a driving range, golf carts with caddies and The Lodge restaurant for a meal after the round. Tee times are typically offered in morning and early-afternoon windows, and the course sits within the wider Resorts World Genting destination.
For golfers in Genting Highlands and visitors driving up from the Klang Valley, CoGolfers makes it easy to turn a highland round into a social day out. Host golf games at Resorts World Awana, invite players from the CoGolfers community, or join golf games that others have already set up. It is a simple way to find golf partners, meet golfers who enjoy mountain golf and build a regular group of golf buddies.
