Tarumi Golf Club

Tarumi Golf Club has operated in Kobe's Tarumi-ku ward, overlooking the Akashi Strait near the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, since 1920, designed by Joe E. Crane and playing 5,661 yards from the back tees at a par of 70. As one of the oldest golf clubs anywhere in Hyogo prefecture, dating to 1920, Tarumi predates the vast majority of the region's golf development, carrying genuine historical weight from Japan's pre-war golf era. Crane's design credit ties the course to the same architectural lineage found at the historically significant Naruo Golf Club and several other early Hyogo layouts. Tarumi-ku sits along Kobe's western coastline with sweeping views toward Awaji Island across the Akashi Strait, giving the club a genuinely scenic setting distinct from the inland hill courses found elsewhere in the city. The compact par-70 routing and modest yardage reflect the more traditional scale typical of Japan's earliest golf facilities, before the longer championship-length trend took hold decades later. Golfers interested in one of Kobe's oldest golf clubs and its coastal Akashi Strait views through CoGolfers can seek out Tarumi Golf Club specifically for its century-long history.
