Coimbatore Golf Club, founded in 1977 by industrialist K. Rajagopal, began with just four browns on grounds leased from Coimbatore Jail before growing into an 18-hole, par-72 championship course at Chettipalayam, 16 km from the city. Spread over 110 acres with Bermuda grass fairways, the 6,973-yard layout features strong crosswinds and a mix of flat and undulating terrain that tests golfers of every level. The club has hosted major events including the Tamil Nadu Open, South Zone Amateur Championship, and All India Ladies Amateur Championship, backed by a driving range, clubhouse, and pro shop.
